Overview:
Frozen centrifuge It is directly affected by the rotor. Therefore, differences in the material of the centrifuge rotor can directly impact the centrifuge’s eccentricity. The structural dimensions of the material also influence the efficiency of the centrifuge. When it comes to the efficiency of refrigerated centrifuges, buyers can start by examining these aspects. Under the same price model, compare centrifuges from different manufacturers, and then compare their rotors—something that cannot be judged simply by the naked eye. This requires users to begin making comparisons on-site themselves.
Freezing centrifuges rotate at high speeds, so safety must be a top priority. In particular, it’s crucial to prevent the centrifuge from moving or even falling off the lab bench during operation due to imbalance or aging of the tube gaskets. Additionally, ensure that the lid is securely closed; otherwise, vibrations could cause the centrifuge tubes to rupture, sending glass fragments flying around and potentially leading to accidents. Therefore, when using a centrifuge, you must pay close attention to the following operational precautions.
(1) The bottom of the centrifuge tube sleeve must be padded with cotton or a test-tube pad.
(2) If the refrigerated centrifuge makes noise or the body vibrates, immediately disconnect the power supply and promptly troubleshoot the issue.
(3) Centrifuge tubes must be placed symmetrically in the rotor to prevent vibration of the machine. If there is only one sample tube, the other tube should be replaced with an equal mass of water.
(4) When starting the centrifuge, you must first close the top cover before slowly starting it up.
(5) After the separation is complete, first turn off the centrifuge. Only after the centrifuge has come to a complete stop may you open the centrifuge lid and remove the sample. Do not use external force to forcibly stop the centrifuge from rotating.
(6) The centrifugation time is generally 1 to 2 minutes; during this period, the experimenter must not leave to attend to other tasks.
In addition to the points mentioned above, when the refrigerated centrifuge is in the pre-cooling state, the centrifuge lid must be kept closed. After centrifugation, remove the rotor, invert it several times on the lab bench to thoroughly dry any residual moisture in the cavity, and leave the centrifuge lid open. While the rotor is pre-cooling, its lid can be placed either on the centrifuge’s platform or on the lab bench. Under no circumstances should you tighten the lid too much—let it float loosely on top of the rotor. If the lid is accidentally activated while loose, it could fly off and cause an accident! After tightening the rotor lid, use your fingers to check carefully for any gaps between the rotor lid and the rotor itself. If there is a gap, loosen the lid slightly and retighten it until you confirm that there is no gap at all before starting the centrifuge again. During operation of the refrigerated centrifuge, operators must never leave the centrifuge room. In case of any abnormal situation, operators should press the stop button rather than simply turning off the power. Before pre-cooling, be sure to complete the centrifuge usage log. Do not use fake centrifuge tubes, nor tubes that are aged, deformed, or cracked. On holidays and after evening hours, the refrigerated centrifuge may be used for routine safety checks before being left unattended. During the operation of the refrigerated centrifuge, if any machine malfunction or component damage occurs, timely maintenance should be performed.
What maintenance precautions should be taken for centrifuges? After each use of a refrigerated centrifuge, be sure to open the centrifuge lid to allow heat to dissipate. If a low-temperature centrifugation was performed previously, ice may have formed. Aluminum rotors especially require frequent cleaning. In addition, refrigerated centrifuges must undergo regular maintenance and inspections. When operators leave their posts, they should disconnect the power supply to the refrigerated centrifuge. First-time users should seek guidance from those who have used refrigerated centrifuges before and should never operate them blindly.
Freezer centrifuges should generally be placed in a dry location, away from direct sunlight. Since freezer centrifuges generate considerable heat, avoid stacking clutter around them; keep items with poor heat dissipation at least 10 cm away. Additionally, it’s best to place the freezer centrifuge in a separate room and never store organic solvents or flammable materials nearby. As operators of freezer centrifuges, what specific details should we pay attention to? As users, we must select the appropriate rotor and ensure proper handling of both the centrifuge tubes and rotors—especially the symmetrical placement of centrifuge tubes. Many accidents involving freezer centrifuges are caused by improper use of rotors and centrifuge tubes.
