Overview:
I. Working Principle of the Horizontal Rotor in a Centrifuge:
1. When the horizontal rotor is stationary, the central axis of the centrifuge tubes in the rotor is parallel to the rotation axis.
2. As the horizontal rotor accelerates in rotation, the central axis of the centrifuge tube gradually transitions from a parallel position to a position nearly perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
3. As the horizontal rotor slows down, the central axis of the centrifuge tube gradually shifts from a position nearly perpendicular to the rotation axis toward a position parallel to it.
II. Advantages of Horizontal Rotors in Centrifuges:
1. Large-capacity separation is recommended.
2. It facilitates the separate collection of the various sample bands from the centrifuge tube after centrifugation.
III. Disadvantages of Horizontal Rotors in Centrifuges:
1. High center of gravity.
2. High resistance.
3. Avoid high-speed separation.
4. The particles have a long settling distance and require a long centrifugation time.
5. The settling direction of the particles is essentially consistent with the direction of the radial rotation, with a small amount of wall effect.
