The difference between a swing-out rotor and a horizontal rotor

Overview:

From the perspective of rotor design, angle rotors all have an angled inclination—typically 45 degrees. During centrifugation, the position of the centrifuge tubes remains fixed and unchanged; as a result, the sample undergoes reorientation. The smaller the angle between the centrifuge tube and the rotor axis, the greater the degree of reorientation and the higher the centrifugation efficiency.

Horizontal rotors are all horizontal; when the centrifuge tube is placed in the rotor cup at rest, it is oriented vertically relative to the ground. However, as the rotor begins to spin, the centrifuge cup, subjected to centrifugal force, swings from its vertical position to a horizontal position parallel to the ground.
