Overview:
On October 30, 2025, Shanghai Luxiangyi Centrifuge Instrument Co., Ltd. announced that the production and commissioning of 120 TD5A multi-tube rack automatic balancing centrifuges have been completed, and these units have officially set off for São Paulo, Brazil. This batch of equipment will serve local biopharmaceutical laboratories, supporting critical processes such as blood separation, cell culture, and protein purification. This marks the large-scale application of China’s high-end centrifuges in the South American market.
Technical Highlight: Large-capacity rotor + precise control, ideal for high-intensity experimental requirements.
According to feedback from our Brazilian customer, the 36×15ml horizontal rotor of the TD5A was the key factor considered in this procurement. This rotor can process 540 ml of samples at a time (36 tubes × 15 ml), representing a 50% increase in capacity compared to conventional 24-tube models. It can reduce the processing time for a batch of samples to within 10 minutes, significantly shortening the experimental cycle and enhancing the efficiency of the TD5A.
The microcomputer control system equipped on the device supports storage of experimental programs. Users can customize speed, time, and RCF (relative centrifugal force) curves, and switch between rpm and RCF readings in real time via the LCD screen. “Brazilian research institutions have extremely high requirements for data accuracy,” noted the Technical Director of Shanghai Luxiangyi. “The TD5A’s rotational speed error is controlled within ±10 r/min, fully meeting international standards.”
Security Certification: Multi-layered Protection + Eco-friendly Design
In response to the South American market’s heightened concern for equipment safety, the TD5A is equipped with a three-level protection system featuring an electronic door lock, overspeed alarm, and automatic rotor imbalance shutdown. Its food-grade silicone rubber sealing rings meet China’s GMP certification standards, effectively preventing sample cross-contamination. The entire unit operates at a noise level of ≤65 dB (in a Class A laboratory environment), ensuring a comfortable operating environment.
Market Response: The cost-performance advantage is becoming increasingly prominent, with domestically produced equipment accounting for 35% of Brazil’s import volume.
According to Brazilian import data, in 2025, Chinese scientific research instruments accounted for 28% of the country’s total imports of similar products, with centrifuges making up as much as 35% of that share. “Compared to European brands, the TD5A is 40% cheaper and its delivery time has been shortened to just 30 days,” commented a medical device distributor. Since entering the Brazilian market in 2020, Shanghai Luxiangyi has cumulatively delivered over 500 centrifuges, serving customers including universities and biomedical and other research institutions. The company’s general manager stated that in the future, they will launch a version with a Portuguese-language user interface specifically tailored for the South American market.
Industry Impact: Driving the Global Expansion of “Made in China” Smart Manufacturing
According to data from the China Instrument and Meter Industry Association, in 2025, the export value of domestically produced centrifuges increased by 22% year-on-year, with the Latin American market accounting for an expanded share of 18%. The bulk export of the TD5A model confirms that Chinese scientific research equipment has reached international standards in key performance indicators such as rotational speed accuracy and noise control. “We are currently in talks with Brazilian customers about a joint R&D project, and in the future, we will customize specialized models tailored for research on tropical diseases,” revealed the head of the R&D center at Shanghai Luxiangyi.
