Overview:

Centrifuge As a technique, ultracentrifugation offers numerous advantages. For example, ultracentrifugation can be performed at low temperatures, thereby preserving the activity of biological macromolecules. Preparative centrifuges have a large sample capacity and can separate and purify several grams of sample in a single run—far more than what can be achieved by chromatography or electrophoresis. Analytical centrifuges not only allow determination of molecular weights but also enable assessment of substance purity, conformation, sedimentation coefficients, and other properties. Consequently, centrifugation technology occupies an important position in biological research and serves as the most convenient and effective tool for isolating and purifying cells, viruses, proteins, nucleic acids, and enzymes.
During high-speed rotation, the motion induced by centrifugal force causes solid particles suspended in a liquid to settle out—specifically, objects with greater mass or volume in the suspension move toward the region of the rotor with the greatest radius, while particles with smaller mass or volume tend to deposit closer to the rotor’s inner radius.
  Inspection items for centrifuge machinery:
⊙ Hydraulic oil cleanliness: Inspect monthly; replace immediately if any abnormalities are detected.
⊙ Noise: Confirm at each shift; if any abnormality is detected, immediately perform maintenance.
⊙ Current: Check monthly to ensure it remains within the rated range.
⊙ Pressure: Confirm for each shift, within the system’s rated range.
⊙ Oil temperature: Confirm at the start of each shift; it must be below 55℃.
⊙ Sealing: Inspect each shift to check for oil leaks in all pipelines and mounting surfaces. If any leaks are found, turn off the power and perform maintenance.
⊙ Regularly inspect all proximity switches.
⊙ Regularly check the set current of each thermal relay.
⊙ Regularly check whether the vibration detection device is sensitive and reliable.
⊙ Check whether the distribution cabinet fan is intact and whether its surface is covered.
⊙ Regularly vacuum the inside of the control cabinet (recommended once a month).
⊙ After a prolonged power outage, the main circuit must undergo an insulation check before being energized.
⊙ Regularly calibrate the oxygen analyzer.
   Centrifuge Daily maintenance:
  1. Before starting the centrifuge, first disconnect the power supply and release the centrifuge brake. You can then manually rotate the drum to check for any binding or jamming.
  2. Check other parts for looseness and any abnormal conditions.
  3. Connect the power supply and start the machine by turning the switch clockwise (typically, it takes about 40-60 seconds from a standstill to normal operation).
  4. Typically, each piece of equipment must be run empty for about 3 hours after it arrives at the factory; it can begin operation once no abnormalities are detected.
  5. Materials should be placed as evenly as possible.
  6. It must be operated by a dedicated person, and the capacity must not exceed the rated capacity.
  7. It is strictly prohibited to operate the machine at speeds exceeding its rated capacity, as this may shorten the machine’s service life.
  8. After the machine is started, if any abnormal conditions are detected, it must be stopped immediately for inspection and, if necessary, disassembled, cleaned, and repaired.
  9. When the centrifuge is in operation, it rotates at high speed; therefore, never touch its rotating drum with your body to avoid accidents.
  10. The mesh count of the filter cloth should be determined according to the size of the solid particles in the material being separated; otherwise, the separation efficiency will be affected.
  11. Additionally, when installing the filter cloth, the sealing ring of the filter cloth should be embedded into the sealing groove of the rotary drum to prevent material from leaking in.
  12. To ensure the centrifuge operates properly, please lubricate and maintain the rotating parts every six months.
  13. At the same time, check the lubrication condition at the bearing area for any signs of wear; inspect the components in the braking system for wear—replace any severely worn parts; and check whether there is oil leakage from the bearing cover.
  14. After using the machine, be sure to clean it thoroughly and keep it tidy.
  15. Do not use non-corrosion-resistant centrifuges to separate highly corrosive materials. In addition, operate strictly in accordance with the equipment’s requirements and regulations; never use non-explosion-proof centrifuges in flammable or explosive environments.
Centrifuges are widely used in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, and remain the primary equipment for solid-liquid separation in current production processes involving chemical intermediates and pharmaceutical active ingredients. However, centrifugal separation processes in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries typically involve flammable and explosive solvents. Centrifuge Safety during operation has become the primary requirement for equipment selection.
