Overview:

The cell centrifuge designed and developed by Shanghai Luxiangyi Centrifuge Instrument Co., Ltd. primarily uses microcomputer control, with a digital display screen and a touch-sensitive panel! Its maximum speed reaches 3,000 r/min, and it also allows for time setting.

Cell centrifuge Primarily used in cell research, cellular structures also vary in complexity—from simple to complex!

Let’s start by discussing the definition of a cell:

The cell (English name: cell) does not have a universally accepted definition. A commonly used description is that the cell is the fundamental structural and functional unit of living organisms. All known organisms—except viruses—are composed of cells; however, viral life activities can only be manifested within cells.

The social value of cell research lies in providing a foundation for experimentation, promoting the development of cell culture and related technologies—and, of course, much more besides:

  1. Directly observe the morphology, structure, and vital activities of living cells. It is used in research across a variety of disciplines, including cytology, genetics, immunology, experimental medicine, and oncology.

  2. Direct observation of cellular changes can facilitate photography.

  3. Study cell types ranging from lower to higher organisms, from embryos to adult organisms, and from normal tissues to tumors.

  4. Convenient for using various techniques: methods such as phase contrast, fluorescence, electron microscopy, histochemistry, and isotope labeling can be employed to observe and study cellular conditions.

  5. It is both the subject of study in molecular biology and genetic engineering, as well as their primary component.

  6. Easy to conduct experimental studies involving physical, chemical, and biological methods.

  7. It is easy to provide a large number of experimental subjects with similar biological traits, and it is relatively inexpensive and economical.

  8. Serve as a source of materials for the production of biological products, monoclonal antibodies, and genetic engineering, among other applications.

The role of the cell centrifuge cannot be overlooked. Although there are many causes of illness in our lives, viruses account for a significant portion of these causes. That’s why hospitals frequently use centrifuges for testing—whether it’s blood analysis or pathological research!

As one of the major pathogens causing human diseases, viruses have a simple structure and can serve as genetic engineering vectors for the development of various therapeutic agents, including treatments for certain genetic disorders, cancer therapies, and gene-based vaccines. Moreover, due to their relatively simple genomes, studying viral genes can help unravel many unsolved mysteries surrounding cellular gene regulation and expression in the biological world. It is safe to say that research on viruses holds broad and significant implications for human society!

In our research, we’ve been primarily focused on refining the instrument workflow from a biological perspective—spanning imaging scales from molecules all the way to live animals. This continuum covers imaging across a wide range of scales, from nanometers to centimeters, including molecules, viruses, bacteria, organelles, cells, tissues, organs, and small animals. Therefore, we’ve been continuously enhancing and perfecting our entire platform to enable comprehensive, cross-scale research. Our study of viruses starts with their biomacromolecules and extends all the way to their effects on living organisms; thus, this integrated instrument chain is absolutely essential. Among these instruments, the cell centrifuge stands out as one of the most critical.

Cell centrifuges are also commonly used in cell culture. Typically, procedures such as preparing cell suspensions, adjusting cell density, washing, and collecting cells require the use of a centrifuge. A standard centrifuge operating at 4,000 rpm is usually sufficient for routine applications. For example, when performing cell sedimentation, a centrifuge with a relative centrifugal force (RCF) of 80–100 g is adequate; excessive centrifugal force can sometimes cause damage to the cells.

In addition, other types of centrifuges—such as high-capacity or temperature-adjustable models—can be added as needed. If special applications are required—for example, gradient centrifugation for the isolation and preparation of certain cells—a separate centrifuge equipped with additional specialized features will need to be procured to meet the experimental requirements.

The above is just my perspective on the importance of cell centrifuges in this industry. However, it’s ultimately just one person’s viewpoint—so I hope everyone can share their thoughts and ideas freely, and together we can continue to contribute to and advance the cell industry!
