There is enormous demand in the medical device market, yet the number of formally registered hospitals in Indonesia stands at just over 1,600.

Today, Shanghai Luxiangyi Centrifuge Instrument Co., Ltd. welcomed an overseas customer from Indonesia. The customer visited our production line and manufacturing processes at Luxiangyi. They showed great interest in our capillary centrifuges and blood-collection tube centrifuges, noting that Chinese-made centrifuge products not only boast exquisite craftsmanship but also offer very reasonable prices. Moreover, they gave our high-quality service a big thumbs-up.

The Indonesian customers who came to visit us also informed us that Indonesia mainly produces only a few simple, basic medical devices—such as disposable latex gloves, medical bandages, hospital beds, operating tables, and other straightforward hospital equipment. Approximately 90% of medical devices in Indonesia are imported. In the years ahead, the government will continue to step up its investment in healthcare infrastructure. For manufacturers like us engaged in foreign trade of medical devices, this represents an excellent business opportunity. The medical hardware available in Indonesian hospitals varies widely in quality; both low-priced and high-end products are in demand in this market. Through this mutual understanding and communication, we hope to establish a long-term trading partnership and import high-quality centrifuge products into Indonesia.
 
Notably, bilateral economic relations between China and Indonesia have seen rapid development in recent years, with China now becoming Indonesia’s fourth-largest trading partner. Both sides are working hard to expand their trade and investment ties and deepen cooperation in sectors such as tourism, healthcare, information and communication technology, infrastructure, and energy. These sectors hold the greatest potential for future economic cooperation between China and Indonesia and are likely to yield quick and tangible results.

During the 2017 National Day Golden Week, outbound tourism by Chinese travelers reached another peak, increasing by 17.6% year-on-year. According to monitoring data from Tuniu Tourism Network, among short-haul outbound destinations, the top three most popular countries for this year’s National Day holiday were Thailand, Japan, and Indonesia. Meanwhile, according to data provided by database provider Euromonitor, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Bali, Indonesia, in 2017 rose by 30%, reaching 150,000—marking the first time that Chinese tourists surpassed Australian visitors to become Bali’s largest source of tourists. Bali has also become the second most favored island destination among Chinese travelers, trailing only Phuket.

International medical tourism and health services are increasingly attracting the attention of successful individuals—people who typically exhibit such common characteristics as overwork, poor nutrition, overeating, and a lack of sense of accomplishment.
